Who do you most admire and why? My parents, for selflessly taking on a new challenge when it would have been easier to say no and take a proper retirement; anyone who chooses forgiveness instead of revenge; the ordinary person who’s afraid to come to their first yoga class or try their first inversion, but does it anyway.
What is your favorite yoga pose and why? Crow—when I first started my yoga practice, this pose amazed me and I never imagined that I’d be able to do it. The day I “got” it, I showed everyone who I saw—you may have seen me demonstrating crow at the grocery store! When demonstrating crow while wearing a dress, make sure to wear the proper undergarments!
When did you start practicing yoga? 2005, at the Wellness Center
Who are your teachers and where did you train? I received my 200 hour teacher training certification at Cleveland Yoga from the wonderful Tami Schneider. Also at Cleveland Yoga, I have learned so much from the kind and inspiring Marni Task. Additionally, I have attended bootcamps and teacher trainings with Baron Baptiste, Jonny Kest, Wade Morissette and Girish. I am filled with admiration for Seane Corn.
Describe your teaching style: Challenging but FUN! I like incorporating arm balances and “tricks” into my classes. I encourage laughter and not taking yourself too seriously—feel free to shout out “Chataranga!” during my class!
What is your motto? Be kind
