CYT 200
Nicknames: “Mama”, “Beautiful” (by my hubby)
Favorite Food: Cuban black beans and rice
Favorite Place: My deck. It is a sanctuary. It is also my very favorite place to practice yoga.
Hobbies: Cooking, gardening, chasing my 2 boys and “exploring” on my yoga mat.
Who do you most admire and why? A person who takes the time to hold a door open or give a smile or a “hello”. Someone who lives with a connection to the Earth and everyone around them.
What is your favorite yoga pose and why? Vriksasana, Tree Pose. To me it represents a connection between Earth and sky. There are so many things happening in this pose. Coming into stillness in tree pose is representative of stilling the mind.
When did you start practicing yoga? I found yoga in 2009. I was dealing with insomnia and had read that yoga may help. I am so intrigued by all of the amazing health benefits that practicing yoga can offer.
Who are your teachers and where did you train? My peers and students teach me something new every day. I received my 200-hour yoga certification from my amazing teacher, Tami Schneider.
Describe your teaching style: Compassionate and encouraging. My desire is for my students to get the most out of their yoga practice and hopefully discover something new along the way.
What is your motto? “Let it be.” Don’t over think, don’t overanalyze. We create our own realities in our mind. Keep it simple and just live in the present moment.
